Pearl Scent thingie

The “pearls” are fluid filled balls of liquid that slowly evaporate and release scent. After several weeks, it was nothing but a shrivelled film of white specks in a gel. I was about to throw it out (actually I was planning to save the top for a stencil), when I read
… “Do not dispose in a drain”

Curious, I filled the thing up with water again. A thought I could get some scent out of it, at least.

I returned a few hours later and the pearls were fully filled and swollen with liquid again!

What a fun little osmosis toy!

Makes me wonder how they make these little pearl beads. I’m sure it’s a patented trade secret!

I grew up in the desert with some amazing night skies. Stargazing was the best part about being “out in the middle of nowhere.” (Bonus: It was cool enough to be outside and enjoy it. ) Think how lucky we are to have such images available for us to see! It’s the first time in recorded history that so many can see so much of the cosmos.

This site caught my eye as an interesting resource for web designers. It lists over 500 colours by colour name, Hex value, RGB value and Microsoft Access code number.

More info than you need, sure!

But an interesting list for a quick reference if you need to see the difference between chartreuse, greenyellow, limegreen, darkolivegreen1, and olivedrab1.

The site has all sorts of goodies on it. I recommend wandering around there.

Laughter is some seriously odd behavior

A friend hooked me up with Radiolab and I’ve been addicted to the show ever since. This episode, about laughter, really tickled me… not because it was funny, but because it asks some serious questions about the behavior.

Example: Baring teeth is an aggressive action in mammals. But smiling for humans is friendly.

Go figure, eh? Odd stuff. Enjoy!
